Arsenal will be reinvigorated by the return of Alexis Sanchez as Arsene Wenger takes his side to Anfield in a potentially high-octane encounter against Liverpool.

Arsenal have started their season out on a very bad note, with a 1-0 loss to Stoke City in their second game of the campaign. And, on Sunday, they face a confident Liverpool side, who have just dismantled one of the best sides in Europe from last season – Hoffenheim – to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.

The Gunners, though, have received a timely boost, with Alexis Sanchez set to return to action after missing out the first two games due to an abdominal strain. The Chilean’s inclusion in the starting lineup is almost a certainty, with Arsene Wenger highlighting the fact that it is hard to keep the player out of the lineup, especially with his desire to play each and every match.

“Alexis, when he is in the squad, he can score a goal for you at that is always good for morale. He wants to play. It is difficult for me to know about the individual cases but sometimes players have been promised things that have not been kept. I can only tell you what happens here and Alexis works for hard and is focused to play.”

Laurent Koscielny also returns from a three-match ban and would be a huge boost for Arsene Wenger, who was criticised heavily for fielding just a single natural central defender in the back three as the Gunners lost out to Stoke.

“We lost the game on Saturday because defensively we gave a cheap goal away, and it’s good to have him back. It’s been very hard, because I didn’t even consider him for friendly games, you know, because I had to play some defenders, I think what hurt him a lot was to miss the cup final.”

Thus, Wenger has almost the entire squad at his disposal, barring the long-term absentee – Santi Cazorla. Arsenal will be eager to get their season back on track after the Stoke hiccup.
