Transfer Rumour: Watford keen on a loan move for Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Watford are reportedly interested in a loan move for versatile Manchester United teenager Timothy Fosu-Mensah

According to a report by The Sun, Timothy Fosu-Mensah could be on his to Watford this summer as the club are believed to be interested in the midfielder. He has featured in all of United’s pre-season games so far, but manager Jose Mourinho could be looking at a potential loan move.

It is understood that Mourinho will wait until the UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid before coming to any sort of decision regarding Timothy’s future.

Fosu-Mensah’s performances have firmly established him as one of the most highly-rated youngsters under contract at Old Trafford. He was discovered during Louis Van Gaal’s tenure and broke into the first team wherein he played a defensive role. In fact, after Mourinho’s arrival, the Portuguese boss saw him more fit to play as a right-back.

However, the teenage talent is equally proficient at playing as a holding midfielder since he does appear most comfortable and at ease whenever deployed in that position. His minutes last season were very limited mainly because Antonio Valencia was in form while Mourinho seems to prefer Ashley Young as a right-back.

Although the player lacked game time, he definitely does not lack the talent and potential. It explains Watford’s interest in Fosu-Mensah, and a move can actually benefit the Dutchman since he needs to clock regular playing minutes.
