Arsenal will reportedly miss out on signing Barcelona’s Arda Turan as the midfielder is likely to join Galatasaray on a loan deal

According to a report by The Mirror, Arsenal will receive a major setback in their pursuit of Arda Turan as he could be on his way to join Galatasaray this summer. The Turkish midfielder has been recipient to limited playing time at the Nou Camp since his arrival, and is believed to be keen on a summer switch.

Although Arsenal have been linked with a move for quite some time now, Turan is likely to snub the Gunners to secure a move to his homeland on a loan deal.

When Turan joined Barcelona, he had the reputation of being one of the most lethal attacking midfielders in Spain. His four-year spell at Atletico Madrid established him as a dangerous player who could greatly influence the proceedings of the game. However, ever since he made his way to Camp Nou, he received limited chances.

His debut was also majorly delayed for Barcelona as the club’s transfer ban kept him from playing for them until January 2016. After his first appearance for the Spanish giants, the player managed to start in just 23 games in the La Liga in addition to one in the Champions League.

Competing with players like Neymar and Messi can be a daunting task for even the best of players and Turan failed to make any sort of impact, thus losing out on a spot in the midfield area. It is quite evident that staying back with Barcelona will not further his career in any sense, which is why the Turk is seeking an exit.

For a long time, Arsenal seemed like the ones likely to sign him since the Gunners have been eyeing the versatile midfielder in an attempt to bolster their attack. Alexis Sanchez has placed his Arsenal future in a spectrum of uncertainty and if he leaves this summer, Turan could have been a possible alternative.

In fact, Turan could have sealed a position in the first-team thereby providing him with ample opportunities. However, the Turk is understood to be interested in moving back to his hometown and is likely to get enough first-team opportunities there as well.
