Manchester United have finally completed the signing of 18-year-old Leeds United goalkeeper Theo Richardson after a successful trial earlier in the year.
Manchester United have signed another exciting youngster – this time a young goalkeeper that goes by the name Theo Richardson. The Leeds United player had arrived at United on a trial earlier in the year and the Red Devils have finally completed the signing of the 18-year-old custodian.
Theo Richardson is an official part of the Manchester United team – the player is now listed as a United player on the team’s official website. The youngster had a short spell at Elland Road and his impressive performances for Leeds have seen the player make the move to the big leagues now.

As part of the trial, Theo featured in five league games for the Manchester United Under-18s and impressed thoroughly, despite conceding 15 goals in the process – the highlight being his saves in a 2-2 draw against neighbours Manchester City.
In fact, the player impressed so much that he was named as a substitute for the Under-23s in their last league match of the campaign – a 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
The 18-year-old’s official date of joining United has been chalked down as July 20 and his Manchester United bio iterates that the player is one among four goalkeepers with the Reserves squad to be a part of their pre-season tour in Austria – a statement backed by the player’s uploads on Instagram.
While Theo isn’t likely to get a look-in into the first-team soon, the player is expected to challenge to be the first-choice keeper for the Under-23s and in the UEFA Youth League as well.
Also, according to The Sun, Theo played for United in the Dallas Cup and is set to represent the club in their return to the prestigious Super Cup NI Tournament – previously called the Milk Cup – to be held in Northern Ireland this week.
United’s recruitment for squads other than the first-team has been in overdrive, with the arrival of as many as 10 players including Millen Baars, Di’Shon Bernard and more. It would be interesting to see if Theo manages to keep impressing the coaches at United enough to perhaps become a contender for a breakthrough into the first-team in the future.
