Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has reportedly dismissed rumours of being linked to Manchester United, committing his future to the Foxes.

According to a report by The Mirror, Kasper Schmeichel has denied all rumours of him seeking a move to Manchester United this summer and has made it clear that he will stay on with Leicester City.

The Red Devils have been linked with the Danish keeper as they are likely to lose David De Gea to Real Madrid. Like last year, the Spaniard is being strongly linked to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and if that happens, manager Jose Mourinho will need to secure an able goalkeeper to replace De Gea.

Schmeichel previously played for Manchester City but he struggled to establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at the Etihad, and after getting loaned to several clubs, he joined Notts County back in 2009.

That was followed by a move to Leeds United after which he joined Leicester City in 2011 and managed to stay put ever since. His stock has been on the rise constantly ever since, especially after he played a crucial role in the club’s shock fairytale victory in the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.

Despite Eldin Jakupovic being a part of the Foxes, Schmeichel is understood to prefer to stay back with Leicester and fight to retain his number one spot instead of joining Manchester United.

However, this might come as bad news to Jose Mourinho since reports of De Gea moving out this summer have only intensified. The superstar was expected to join the Spanish champions two seasons back but the deal did not materialize. He gets linked to Real during every transfer window and this time, the deal might actually happen.

It is believed that Los Blancos are especially keen on bringing De Gea to the Spanish capital at all costs this summer as manager Zinedine Zidane looks to launch a stronger campaign next season to successfully defend all the trophies they added to their collection last season.

Although Schmeichel’s father Peter was an integral part of Old Trafford once upon a time, it looks like the younger Schmeichel has made a decision to stay put with Leicester City.
