Manchester United left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has reportedly come under Leeds’ United’s radar as the club are keen on bagging a deal.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is wanted by Championship side Leeds after spending the last season on loan for the Wolves.

Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Manchester United manager saw him bring in several changes at the club and while he did bag superstar signings like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he also sent youngsters like Borthwick-Jackson and Januzaj out on loans to other clubs.

Borthwick-Jackson embarked on his career as a Manchester United trainee and grew from strength to strength over the years as he developed into a promising full-back. He even made a mark in the first-team under Louis van Gaal since several players were injured and the youngster did slot in successfully.

He was also voted as the under-21 player of the year for the Red Devils that term due to his impressive performances with the first team as well as for the youth side. He made about 14 senior appearances and established cordial relationships with the rest of the United squad at that time.

The defender spent last season on loan in the Championship with Wolves but made only seven appearances and spent the second half of the campaign playing for United’s under-23s.

Leeds recently appointed Thomas Christiansen as their manager after Garry Monk left and are believed to be keen on either securing a loan or a permanent deal for the 20-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract at United after signing a new long-term deal last summer.

When he was sent out on loan to Wolves, United fans did remain hopeful that he would come back and join the first team to compete with others. But, it looks like he might be on his way to join Leeds.

The left back impressed under Van Gaal, but his lack of experience seems to be an issue since Mourinho did choose to deploy Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian at left back instead of the youngster. He was also left out of United’s pre-season tour of the United States so a summer exit for Borthwick-Jackson seems most likely.
