Manchester United will reportedly have to wait for 12 months before signing Anderson Talisca since Besiktas want him on loan for another season.
According to a report by The Sun, Anderson Talisca will have to continue being on loan at Besiktas from Benfica and for now, a transfer to Manchester United might not be possible. Besiktas are believed to have activated a clause to keep him on loan for another season.
Manchester United have already invested in Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Talisca was expected to be the second, but the Red Devils will have to wait for yet another season to obtain his signature.
The Brazilian forward has been linked with Manchester United for a while now after putting up impressive performances for Benfica and continuing the same form on loan at Besiktas, where he has scored 17 goals in 33 games. His blistering form also helped the Turkish outfit win the league title.
The talented Brazilian can play in a variety of positions – either in midfield or upfront – proving to be extremely versatile which is something Jose Mourinho could have really used. United have also been linked with signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid and they are likely to pursue that now since Talisca is not going anywhere this summer.
The fact that Talisca is so versatile could have caused trouble for Juan Mata since Mourinho would either rotate between him and Mata or let Talisca gradually replace Mata.
Consistency is something Mata has been struggling with and Talisca has proven to be pretty consistent at Benfica and Besiktas. He is a good finisher and is accurate when it comes to scoring while also having a good shot in him.
His physical strength is also a good attribute which can make him a good fit for United’s frontline. Talisca would have benefited if he joined Manchester United this summer, but Mourinho is likely to make a move again once his loan spell ends with Besiktas.
However, Juan Mata is likely to be happy since now he can work on improving himself and being more consistent since the upcoming season will be a crucial one for United. In order to prove himself, he will also need to compete to start more often next season.
