Manchester United have reportedly received a welcome boost in their pursuit of Ivan Perisic as the winger is free to leave this summer if he wants to.
According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United’s prime target Ivan Perisic is set to move out of Inter Milan this summer meaning Jose Mourinho is likely to act fast and sign him.
The new Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti is understood to have given Perisic the go-ahead to leave San Siro this summer and Perisic has been on Mourinho’s list of targets for the upcoming window. However, a bidding war is likely to ensue since PSG have also been keen on signing Perisic.
Inter Milan are holding out for £50million for the former Borussia Dortmund winger, and United earlier had a bid rejected for the Croatian but that has not deterred the Red Devils as they seem to be ready to increase the offer.
Perisic has had an illustrious career over the past decade and has blossomed into an exciting forward while playing for Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg, and has only improved further after joining Inter Milan two years ago.
Perisic has been one of the key components for Inter Milan. The Italian club might have had to endure a frustrating campaign in the Serie A, but the Croatian winger has been a silver lining, as he recorded 11 goals and ten assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
That being said, the Croatian may just be a great fit at Old Trafford especially since Zlatan Ibrahimovic will no longer be a part of the club next season. United fans love watching attractive, attacking football and Perisic can fill the void left behind by Ibrahimovic.
Mourinho is also keeping an eye on Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez. However, with several clubs showing interest, the Portuguese manager will need to make a move soon enough and sign one of his targets.
It is understood that he is aiming to sign a holding midfielder and a centre back before the window closes and Mourinho’s wish-list includes the likes of Michael Keane, Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Fabinho, but United will need to secure a dependable midfielder or striker before anything else.
