Arsenal have reportedly agreed to sign Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru from Belgian club KAS Eupen for £6.8million.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the Gunners are set to beat their rivals in signing prolific starlet Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen.

Arsenal have also signed a new contract extension with Arsene Wenger, who has been facing the heat for a good majority of last season. Now the Frenchman will be looking to get some good deals this summer and it looks like Henry Onyekuru will be the first of more to come.

Although personal terms have not been agreed upon yet, the youngster is understood to be keen on moving to the English Premier League and playing for Arsenal since that will certainly provide him more exposure.

The 19-year-old rose to prominence when he was declared the joint-top scorer in Belgium last year, as he scored 20 goals across competitions.

Onyekuru ended the season on a strong note in Belgium as he scored 10 goals in 10 games during the play-off round in their domestic league. He also managed to score 12 times during the regular season.

He narrowly missed out on the ‘Golden Bull’ to Anderlecht forward Lukasz Teodorczyk, who scored more away goals than the outgoing Eupen striker. Onyekuru also recorded two goals in the Belgian Cup, thus finishing the season with a total of 24 goals in 41 games.

The teenager looked full of potential even during the 2015-16 season as he netted six times to propel Eupen’s promotion to the top tier.

The forward is fast, accurate and possesses a good stamina which is required to beat defenders. These aspects make him sound like an ideal fit in Arsenal’s front-line especially as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are likely to exit the club this summer.

Onyekuru can be positioned across the front-line but seems to be more comfortable playing on the left as he gets more time on the ball and also tends to drop deeper and be more involved in the game. The teen also relishes one-on-one battles and can get inside to play well on his right foot.

Arsenal are in need of raw, fresh talent and after signing a player like Onyekuru, they seem to be on the right path as they beat competition from clubs like Everton, Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Brom and West Ham to lure the youngster. Celtic were also keen on Onyekuru but had a bid rejected for him in the January transfer window.
