AS Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has agreed to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the season.
According to Jose Felix Diaz of Spanish Publication MARCA, the highly sought-after French teenager has set his heart on a move to Real Madrid in the summer. He is reportedly Real Madrid’s top transfer target for the summer and the club have contacted his family and representatives.
Numerous other clubs have been linked with Mbappe, but if the report is to believed, then only thing that could come in between Mbappe moving to Madrid would be Real’s unwillingness to pay Monaco’s asking price, which could be in the region of a €100 million.
European superpowers such as Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City, Arsenal and even Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to have taken an interest in the prolific youngster, who many are likening to Arsenal and French Legend, Thierry Henry.
In March, Manchester United reportedly had a €110 million bid rejected for the 18-year-old, who has 2 years left on his current contract with AS Monaco. In 40 appearances across all competitions, Mbappe has scored 24 goals and is currently leading Les Monégasques’s title charge.
The man reasons of Mbappe’s desire to move to move to the Santiago Bernabeu are twofold. The first one being the opportunity to work with and learn from the legendary Zinedine Zidane, who over the course of a glittering 15 year playing career, inspired an entire generation of youngsters.
The former Galactico has reportedly been monitoring Mbappe for a number of years now, something that Mbappe is said to appreciate. The second reason is Real Madrid’s project and vision for the future, of which Mbappe has been assured that he will play a key role in.
Real Madrid’s scouting department have kept a close watch on him over the course of the season and have followed up on his performances. It is said that those who have come to witness him live in action have been ‘thrilled’ by what they have seen.
With Mbappe’s arrival, it is yet to be seen whether Real Madrid choose offload Karim Benzema, Alvaro Morata or both. With Cristiano Ronaldo also gradually transitioning into a center forward from a winger, Los Blancos have difficult decisions to make in a few months.
