Tottenham are plotting a £9 million bid for Galatasaray winger Bruma, according to reports

According to the Sun, Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing Galatasaray winger Bruma this summer for a fee of £9 million, as the Tottenham Manager looks to continue building his already impressive side.

They state that Pochettino is set to offload both Moussa Sissoko – who only signed for the club this season in a £30 million deal from Newcastle – as well as Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, after both players have failed to make their mark on the first team.

Bruma joined Galatasaray from Portuguese side Sporting CP back in 2013 for a £8 million fee but after suffering a serious knee injury and finding his route to the first team blocked, he was then loaned out to Gaziantepspor for the remainder of the season.

He then spent the 2015-16 season on loan with Real Sociedad, making a total of 33 appearances and picking up 3 goals and 1 assist on the way. This season, he has been one of Galatasaray’s stand-out players so it is no surprise he is being monitored by the likes of Tottenham.

A technically gifted player who is renowned for his dribbling ability, the 22-year old has been registering an average of 1.91 key passes, 2.18 chances created and an impressive 4.84 successful take ons per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig per 90 minutes, according to Squawka.

At just 22 years of age, Bruma will fit in with Mauricio Pochettino’s policy of signing young players and given the fantastic job he has done with the youngsters already in his ranks, working with the Argentinian tactician will definitely be an attractive prospect for the winger.

The Sun also claim that Galatasaray are refusing to meet Bruma’s demands for a substantial pay-rise and this has led to a breakdown in negotiations. Given that Bruma will only have one year left on his contract at the end of the season, Tottenham will be able to get him on the cheap should they attempt to sign him.

With Erik Lamela’s injury issues becoming all too apparent this season, Pochettino will definitely need reinforcements if he sanctions the sale of Sissoko and N’Koudou. And Bruma fits right in to the kind of dynamic wingers that Pochettino is a fan of.

It would be a deal that makes sense for Spurs as it would allow them to invest what funds they have in other areas of the pitch.
