Arsenal have lost an exciting Arsenal prospect as winger Nathan Tella has reportedly joined Southampton after a successful trial with the club.

Arsenal’s woes seems to have no sign of stopping anytime soon. The Gunners are in danger of not qualifying for the UEFA Champions League while Arsene Wenger’s future remains in doubt. And the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and several other seniors look set to exit the club in the summer.

And, if this wasn’t enough, Arsenal have now lost a gem that was associated with the club for 10 years up until the moment. Nathan Tella, an exciting young winger, has agreed to join fellow Premier League club Southampton after a successful trial with the Saints.

The 17-year-old has signed for Southampton after impressing in a fixture for the Under-18 side against Leicester earlier in the month. Tella had earlier confirmed he was on trial at Southampton and has now confirmed his move with an emotional Instagram post dedicated to the Gunners.

The post read,“ After a great 10 years at Arsenal, sadly I have to move on to a new challenge. thank you everyone who has helped me over the past 10 years to make into the player I am. I will miss the boys and hope they all have a great career.”

He also expressed his zeal at moving to a club like Southampton, hoping to make it to the big stage soon.

“ I am delighted to sign with Southampton Fc. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at this club. Thank you God for allowing me to achieve this goal, and also everyone who has supported me.”

As per Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth website, Tella was informed earlier this year that he will not be offered a professional contract at the club, which might have influenced his decision to leave for Southampton.

The renowned Arsenal youth blogger describes Tella as a direct and skillful player who was a regular face for Arsenal’s Under-18 side.

It would be intriguing to see how Tella develops and whether he makes Arsenal regret their decision of letting go of the exciting winger. For now, though, he would be focused on his task ahead, to progress from the Under-18s to the Under-23s and ultimately the senior squad, in as little time as possible.
