Manchester United and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in a potential summer swoop for Leicester City superstar Kasper Schmeichel.
Spanish publication Don Balon are reporting that Manchester United and Real Madrid are interested in Kasper Schmeichel. The Premier League winning Leicester City goalkeeper is reportedly on the radar of the two giants, who are contemplating a summer move for the Danish international.
Kasper Schmeichel is a Manchester City youth product but never quite established himself with the Citizens. The player was perennially out on loan before making a permanent move to Notts County and then to Leeds United before finally settling in at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City in 2011.
The Danish custodian’s career has taken off ever since, with regularly solid displays for the Foxes, being a key component in their promotion winning campaign and their survival in the Premier League before scripting history by mounting a successful title charge in the Premier League.
This season saw Leicester brought back down to the ground heavily, with the Dane keeping only 5 shutouts in 19 Premier League appearances. But, his Champions League form has been great, with 5 clean sheets recorded in 6 games.

The 30-year-old is now an established name in Premier League and is attracting interest from the best of the clubs, with Manchester United and Real Madrid both interested in the keeper, while Liverpool were previously linked with the player.
David De Gea’s future may still be uncertain, with Real Madrid eyeing a summer foray into the market for a new number one. However, recent reports have hinted that Los Blancos may be going for Thibaut Courtois instead. Still, Jose Mourinho is said to be an admirer of Kasper and that could be the root of Red Devils’ interest in the keeper.
Also, Kasper Schmeichel is very much connected to Manchester United’s history, with his father, Peter Schmeichel a legend for the Red Devils. And, the Dane would perhaps love to walk into his father’s footsteps in an attempt to be a part of United and Schmeichel’s legacy.
Real Madrid on the other hand, are looking for various summer targets to replace Keylor Navas and Kasper Schmeichel has emerged as the latest name on their illustrious list. The Don Balon report also suggests that Real Madrid may sign Kasper and offer him as makeweight in a deal to bring David De Gea to the Bernabeu.
The player is contracted to Leicester City till 2021 and has been previously linked with Liverpool, who could join the two in the pursuit of Kasper Schmeichel in the summer. The suitors are unlikely to be swayed away by the asking price, which is expected to be in the upper echelons, especially given the player’s contract length at King Power.
