Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Monaco prodigy Kylian Mbappe

According to Marca, the performances of Kylian Mbappe as well as his teammate Bernardo Silva have not gone unnoticed at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Real Madrid are looking to sign players in the summer.

They claim that Madrid’s scouts and other technical staff have seen how Monaco’s host of young promising players like Bernardo Silva, Bakayoko, Lemar, and Mbappe have contributed immensely as Leonardo Jardim’s side mount their assault on the Ligue 1 title.

Mbappe played his youth career with AS Bondy before moving to Monaco back in 2013, turning down interest from several of Europe’s elite including Real Madrid in order to stay in France and progress.

He has done exactly that and has quickly shown this season just why he was so hotly pursued before signing for Monaco. Mbappe has been a key player for Jardim’s side and has picked up 12 goals and 8 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions, which are magnificent numbers for an 18-year old.

A pacy, tricky forward who is also a brilliant finisher, Mbappe has already been compared to former Monaco and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. He has also shown his maturity this season in big matches as well as his versatility, as he has been utilised in several positions in attack by Jardim.

The youngster impressed once again as Monaco lost 5-3 to Manchester City, grabbing a goal with a fine finish and constantly threatening City’s shaky defence with his mazy runs and incisive passes. It is no surprise that he is being courted by several of Europe’s elite once more as the Frenchman definitely looks like he is destined for the top of the game.

Manchester United reportedly had scouts present at the Etihad as Mbappe impressed against City, with the Red Devils said to be closely monitoring his progress, with a view to bringing him to Old Trafford next season.

United already have talented youngsters who occupy Mbappe’s position in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, but given his versatility and age, Mbappe could form a fearsome attacking trio with the two of them for years to come.

Barcelona are also reportedly interested in signing the youngster and have apparently marked him as one of their potential summer targets. The Catalans always look to sign young, talented players and Mbappe is exactly that.

With Paco Alcacer not exactly proving to be a success at the Camp Nou, Barcelona could use some quality reinforcements up front and the Frenchman would definitely be a good fit at the club and could learn a lot from the world class players at Barca.

Arsenal’s interest is almost inevitable given that Mbappe hails from and plays in France. Arsene Wenger – who has close ties with Monaco – is well known for being ahead of the curve when it comes to scouting young French talent, and has previously admitted that Arsenal tried to sign him in the past.

Real Madrid always look to sign young, talented players and it comes as no surprise that they are tracking the Frenchman. Karim Benzema could be sold at the end of the season, and while Cristiano Ronaldo is going nowhere at the moment, Real need to start looking for his long-term successor.

Alvaro Morata has failed to establish himself in the first team after returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Blancos would have no problem beating off other clubs in terms of finances should they move for the 18-year old.
