Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba will welcome Real Madrid wantaway Isco at Camp Nou should he decide to quit Los Blancos.
According to Spanish media outlet Sport, Barcelona’s Spanish defender Jordi Alba has stated that he will welcome Real Madrid midfielder Isco with open arms, should he decide to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
Alba was reportedly attending an event in his hometown Hospitalet de Llobregat, where Sport got the opportunity to ask him a few questions. It was understood that the 27-year-old was there for the opening of a sports complex that was started in his name.
“All good players are welcome. I know him (Isco) from my time at Valencia and I appreciate him, but we have to focus on the players we have,” stated the Barca full-back.
Since the arrival of Zinedine Zidane at the helm, Isco has struggled for playing time and has seen himself fall down the pecking order at the club. The Frenchman prefers fielding a trio of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos – which has resulted in Isco, James Rodriguez and Mateo Kovacic being treated as backup options.
Isco, 24, is arguably at or nearing the peak of his career, and he is unlikely to take his game to the next level with such dwindling involvement in games. From Real’s 22 matches this season, the attacking midfielder has just started 11 times. However, he has proven his worth, scoring as well as assisting five times.
The Real outcast has admitted his desire to leave recently, and also rejected a contract extension at the start of February. Zidane has stated that he will not come in the way of Isco, and completely understands his stance, should he decide to walk out of the door at Santiago Bernabeu come the end of the ongoing campaign.
While Barcelona might be a dream destination for any footballer in the world, Isco is more likely to improve at Tottenham Hotspur. The North London side are reportedly back in the chase for the Spanish wizard, and will be looking to capitalise on his uncertain future in Spain.
The 24-year-old can play as a wide forward down the left or right for Spurs and could also operate centrally, in behind Harry Kane. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been known to bring the best out of his players and he could be just the one to give Isco the guidance needed to succeed in the world of football.
