Liverpool are reportedly looking to take advantage of the managerial uncertainty surrounding Arsenal to beat the Gunners in the pursuit of Leicester star Ben Chilwell.

As per an Express exclusive, Liverpool are looking to seal a summer deal for Leicester City star Ben Chilwell. The player is on the radar of Liverpool and Arsenal both. But, the Reds are hoping the uncertainty over Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal future could see them steal a march on the Gunners in the pursuit of the highly-rated Englishman.

Ben Chilwell is one of the many highly-rated English youngsters of the recent times. The 20-year-old has progressed through the ranks at Leicester City and has made the senior grade at King Power under Claudio Ranieri. Chilwell is tipped to become a Three Lions senior too, under Gareth Southgate soon.

But, first the 20-year-old must get some regular first-team action under his belt, something which he has not received much at the defending Premier League champions, with just 10 senior appearances in all competitions this season.

Despite the lack of first-team action though, Chilwell has attracted interest from top clubs. Arsenal have an ageing Nacho Monreal as their first-choice left-back while Kieran Gibbs has shown no signs of replacing the Spaniard anytime soon. Ben Chilwell would serve as both a ready and a long-term option for the left-back role at Emirates.

Liverpool have a dearth of options at the left side of the defence, with James Milner having to play that position. And even though the veteran has done a commendable job, Klopp is well aware of the positives of a more natural player in his role.

Liverpool were knocked back earlier in their pursuit of Ben Chilwell after the Reds saw their £7 million bid swiftly rejected by the Foxes, who are holding out for more. But, the Reds are now prepared to shelve out £10 million in order to secure the future of the 20-year-old.

And they hope Arsene Wenger’s uncertain future at Arsenal could play into their hands as Chilwell would like to commit to a club who has a definite manager and a plan going forward. Klopp would love to add a young exciting player to the ranks at Anfield as the German has maintained that the Reds are perhaps the best place for youngsters to develop.

Leicester City, though, are embroiled in a relegation battle and in case they do end up going down, there may be heavy roster changes in the offing, which may go either way for Chilwell. The Foxes may offer the 20-year-old the chance to be the first-choice for them or let the youngster go for a hefty sum in return.

Chilwell, though, seems like a talent that deserves Premier League football and at Liverpool, he would be able to secure just that. Liverpool do seem to be the best destination for the 20-year-old and given the current overall scenario, the Reds might just have their way in the summer.
