Arsene Wenger lost his cool completely during Arsenal’s game against Burnley this past weekend, and is now facing some severe consequences.

The Frenchman was involved in an extra time altercation with referee Jon Moss and fourth official Anthony Taylor. The Evening Standard understand that he called the referee a ‘cheat’ and could be facing similar punishment to what was doled out to then Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew back in 2012.

Pardew was fined £20,000 and banned for two games as the FA took action against him for shoving assistant referee Peter Kirkup during Newcastle United’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2012-13 season.

In a more recent case of the FA exacting its justice on a club manager, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was handed a one-match ban for being sent off in the Red Devils game against Burnley earlier this season.

The Portuguese was also fined a whopping £50,000 for his comments about Anthony Taylor ahead of their clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Looking at how the former Chelsea manager has been brought to book, Arsene Wenger can expect the very worst from FA. The governing body of football in England have always looked harshly on perceived mistreatment of referees, and the Arsenal manager could be the latest to feel their wrath.

It was a dramatic evening at the Emirates this past Sunday, as Arsenal won 2-1 against the Clarets. The Gunners had taken the lead through Shkodran Mustafi early in the second half, but were reduced to ten men soon after, as Granit Xhaka was sent off for a wild, lunging tackle.

Stoppage time brought several twists and turns. Burnley were awarded a penalty, which was duly converted by Andre Gray, and Wenger was sent to the stands for his behaviour with the referee and fourth official.

However their hero so often this season came to their rescue once again, as Alexis Sanchez scored a Panenka penalty in the 98th minute to give the Gunners a win and lift them to the second spot on the Premier League table.
