Transfer News: Arsenal to be offered swap deal by Juventus for contract rebel Alexis Sanchez

According to reports in Italy, Serie A champions Juventus are planning to offer Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic to Arsenal in exchange for Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners have been locked in negotiations with the Chilean attacker, who is now one of the most important figures in the first team set-up. It is a similar situation with German midfielder Mesut Ozil, with both players demanding wages in parity with the best paid in the Premier League.

This has attracted a lot of interest from the top clubs in Europe, especially in Alexis Sanchez, who has been in blistering form this season. Serie A champions Juventus have been long time admirers of the Chilean attacker, and Italian publication TuttoSport claim that they are willing to offer Miralem Pjanic in exchange.

The report states that club sporting director Giuseppe Marotta wants Sanchez to partner up with the club’s two Argentinian forwards, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, to form a strike force that would rival Barcelona’s attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar and Real Madrid’s front three of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Marotta reportedly doesn’t see Pjanic as too important to that set-up. He is also well aware of the recent rumours that have linked Arsenal with a move for the Bosnian as a possible replacement for Spaniard Santi Cazorla.

The relationship between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez is showing signs of being shaky. The Chilean attacker has refused to budge on his demands and the contract stand-off has been dragging on for months now.

The Gunners may look to cash in on the player before his contract runs out in 2018, but his prolific form in the Premier League means that he is indispensable right now. Sanchez has notched up a massive tally of 14 goals and seven assists so far this season, and Arsenal wouldn’t dream of selling him this season.

However there is potential for a move in the summer. Arsenal are reportedly already keen to sign the central midfielder Miralem Pjanic, and if the contract situation with Sanchez isn’t resolved, then the Gunners could be tempted to cut their losses short and cash in on the Chilean.
