Tottenham are reportedly set to hand Dele Alli a bumper new deal to ward off interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham are set to reward Dele Alli with a new contract with a hefty raise, only months after the English international signed a long-term contract, in order to ward off interest from Spanish heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Dele Alli has been in good form this season, especially in the last few fixtures. Three consecutive braces, with the last one coming in a 2-0 win over runaway league leaders Chelsea, have brought about speculation of a move to Spain in the near future, with Barcelona and Real Madrid both linked with the prodigious 20-year-old.

Alli has only recently signed a new six-year deal with Spurs in September, 2016, but if the Daily Mail is to be believed, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking at the possibility of handing the young sensation a new deal with a bump in pay to make a statement that the player is not for sale.

Alli’s September deal saw his basic wage bumped to £55,000 per-week, but given the player’s form combined with the interest from the two heavyweights, Tottenham are ready to welcome the 20-year-old into the three-figure club, as they have done with Harry Kane recently.

If Tottenham does end up offering Alli a new deal with three figure weekly wages, the former MK Dons player would become the third Spurs player on the current roster to join the list of players earning more than £100,000 per week, after Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane.

The Mail report also cited that while Alli receives just £55,000 per-week, his international peer Raheem Sterling pockets £180,000 per-week at Manchester City, more than triple of Alli. While Alli isn’t one to go after money, his current wage doesn’t justify his current status within the setup at White Hart Lane.

In case Barcelona or Real Madrid come knocking at Alli’s door, they are almost certain to offer a hefty contract payout in order to lure him to Spain. Tottenham look set to give Alli the same at White Hart Lane, something which the youngster is likely to happily accept, as he looks settled in North London.

Looks like the days of Tottenham bowing down to the financial strength of the heavyweights are gone. Spurs fans would hope there isn’t a repeat of Gareth Bale, who was referred to as ‘unsellable’ by the club, only for them to subsequently succumb to the huge transfer fee offered by Real Madrid.

Pochettino is indeed creating a revolution at White Hart Lane, and it looks like the Tottenham’s stance on selling their superstars is also turning a new leaf under the Argentine.
