Mario Balotelli has already discussed a return to the Premier League with several clubs, according to his agent Mino Raiola
Balotelli joined Nice from Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer after turning down offers from England, Spain, Germany and Italy and has got off to a flying start to his Nice career.
Balotelli already looks fully settled in France at a club that his own agent apparently didn’t want him to join, having reportedly warned Nice president Jean Pierre Rivère against signing his client, and telling him that Balotelli chose his own destination for once.
Despite Balotelli looking happier at Nice than he has in recent years, Raiola has revealed that he could soon make a return to the English Premier League. When asked if there was a possibility of Balotelli returning to England, Raiola said :
“There could be. We’ve already had talks with English clubs, but it’s really too early to say. We want to keep it day-by-day with Mario,” he said, according to talkSPORT.
Raiola also bemoaned the fact that Balotelli wasn’t given a fair chance by Klopp, and said he always knew his client would get his form back :
“For Mario I always knew it [his return to form] will come. He was in his last year at Liverpool and he was very stable and not so emotional anymore. I still think it’s a shame that Klopp didn’t give him a fair chance, but Mario is proving to himself, more than to others, what he can do.”
“It’s his career – I think he understands a lot of things and he knows what he did as a mistake in the past.”
“But it’s useless to look back, it’s only useful to look forward.”
Balotelli, once considered one of the most promising talents in the world, was written off after his failed spell at Liverpool. Many thought that his career at the top level was over when the striker opted to join Nice in the summer, but his form has made everyone sit up and take notice once again.
Balotelli has scored 10 goals in just 14 appearances across all competitions this season and has been Nice’s stand-out players, and performed whenever they needed it as they shot to the top of the Ligue 1 table.
Despite his brilliant performances, however, Balotelli still has a petulant side despite what Raiola says about his client learning. He was sent off in last night’s draw against Bordeaux after kicking out at an opponent, and has already amassed 6 yellow cards and 2 red cards this season.
Despite this, the Italian’s performances have clearly alerted several Premier League clubs and we could soon see the controversial forward in the league once again.
