Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to turn down a staggering offer of£120 million from China to extend his stay at Manchester United until the summer of 2018.
According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, the Chinese government is preparing to bankroll a move for the Manchester United forward as they hope to better the quality of football of their up and coming Chinese Super League.
An offer of a staggering £120 million is being prepared to lure Ibrahimovic away from Manchester. But, the 35-year-old is set to turn down the offer and sign another one-year deal which will keep him at the club until the end of next season.
The Swedish forward parted ways with Paris St. Germain at the end of last season and was reportedly offered a mega deal to move to China. However, given United’s pulling power and a manager of Jose Mourinho’s caliber at the helm, Ibrahimovic decided to move to the Manchester outfit.
Chelsea midfielder Oscar is one of the Chinese Super League’s most recent acquisitions. While the deal is still to be made official, the player has gone on record to say that it was nearing its completion. Even Blues boss Antonio Conte confirmed it, saying that he was sorry to see the player leave.
While the Chinese government would have loved to see a player of Ibrahimovic’s stature ply his trade in the Asian country, it seems like a long shot as of now. The former Barcelona forward is enjoying life in England, and has no reason to part ways with the Red Devils.
Ibrahimovic scored both goals on Saturday as United race to their third win on the spin for only the second time this season. It took his tally to 16 goals for the club in all competitions this season. The Swede now has the most goals for Manchester United at this stage in a season since Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 2002.
He is also third in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, and is closing the gap on Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. Also with Paul Pogba and Wayne Rooney hitting form once again, Ibrahimovic has a good supply line to provide him with crosses and assists.
