Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have come to an agreement regarding three players, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Julian Weigl and Ousmane Dembele.
This season, midfielder Julian Weigl, summer acquisition Ousmane Dembele and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all been in stellar form for Borussia Dortmund this season. Weigl has made 19 appearances for them this season after breaking into the squad last year. Dembele has been a revelation this season for Dortmund and has established himself in the first team squad and Aubameyang, who has scored 19 goals in 19 appearances for them in all competitions has continued his stunning form from the last campaign.
They have arguably been Thomas Tuchel’s best players this season and will be key to their Bundesliga fortunes as they look to get back into the Champions League places by the end of season, while also challenging for 2 other major trophies. According to Spanish publication MARCA, European Champions Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the trio. The agreement entails that should another team show an interest in buying any of these players, Real Madrid must be informed before Dortmund sanction the transfer. This would allow Real to first make an offer to the player before anyone else.
According to the report, this isn’t the first time the two European giants have had this agreement. Prior to Ilkay Gundogan’s summer switch to Manchester City, Real Madrid were informed of the Citizens’ desire to acquire their player, as the La Liga side were known to be interested in him in the past.
After Real assured them that they weren’t going to make an offer for the German international, he was allowed to join Pep Guardiola in England. The report further states that the friendship between Florentino Perez and Reinhard Rauball, who are the Presidents of Real and Dortmund respectively, has played a large part in this agreement being reached.
Over the course of 2 Champions League Group stage matches this season, a total of 4 goals have been scored by each side in this tie and Thomas Tuchel’s young side have constantly impressed against a far more experienced and expensively assembled Real Madrid side led by Zinedine Zidane. The Bundesliga giants have some of the most talented players in all of Europe in their ranks so it comes as no surprise that Los Blancos want to have an advantage over the other European giants in case of a future transfer battle.
