The Italians Champions are on a hunt for a midfielder, with the French powerhouse high on the priority list

According to a report by Italian newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato), Juventus’ manager Max Allegri is on a desperate pursuit to add physical presence at the heart of the midfield, with Tottenham’s summer signing Moussa Sissoko one of the candidates.

The reigning Serie A champions suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat at the hands of 10th placed Genoa at the weekend, which highlighted the team’s lack of balance and power in the middle of the park.

Juventus’ hierarchy have accepted Allegri’s request to bolster the midfield as per the report. The Italian head-coach has also shortlisted Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso and Sevilla’s Stephen N’Zonzi as the targets.

Moussa Sissoko was chased by the Italian giants in the summer, but the midfielder preferred a stay in England and as such decided to join Tottenham Hotspurs on a £95,000-a-week contract.

However, the Frenchman’s £30 million move to North London has turned out to be underwhelming at best, with questions raised about his attitude on and off the field.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was recently heard criticizing the Frenchman, stating,”Sissoko needs to work hard and to show in future that he deserves to be on the team.” The former Newcastle United man was left out of the squad for the trip to Chelsea at the weekend.

While the 27 year old box-to-box midfielder has failed to make any notable impact for the Premier League club thus far, and neither has the player came anywhere close to justifying his huge price tag, there are said to no shortages of potential suitors for Sissoko with Inter, Everton, PSG and Sevilla also said to be interested in acquiring his services.

It does seem unlikely the player will be moved on so early, but Tottenham are reported to be open to considering offers for loan in the January window, if there’s no marked improvement in the performance of the player. A short-term move away might potentially turn out to be an inspired choice for all parties concerned.
