Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has asked Henrikh Mkhitaryan to build on his performance against Feyenoord and deliver for the Red Devils in the Premier League as well

In the Red Devils’ 4-0 victory, a certain Henrikh Mkhitaryan put in a breathtaking performance for the hosts in a must-win game. Playing in a central position behind striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Armenian was a joy to watch with his intricate passing displays and his impeccable dribbling ability.

Prior to the match, manager Jose Mourinho had said that he will be giving Mkhitaryan a go after not including him in a number of matchday squads. The 27-year-old had one opportunity to prove himself, and he took his chance, no questions asked.

After the final whistle, Mourinho was inevitably posed the question about the performance of the Armenian, to which the United boss said, as per ESPN: “He just needs now to try to replicate this kind of performance in the Premier League. The Premier League is different. He needs one more step.”

“Obviously now the confidence level is higher. This performance gives him the right to believe that he can play the next match.

“The Premier League has more physicality, more aggression. He needs a bit more of that. But, with the quality, we know why we bought him. He has a high level of technical quality. He’s very intelligent, very bright, with how he reads the game.”

Mkhitaryan’s good performance now gives Mourinho an additional attacking option for the Premier League. Barring a couple of games, goals have been hard to come by for the Red Devils and the Armenian could perpetuate the attack to help them look a more formidable outfit in the final third.

Wayne Rooney to was on song against Feyenoord and combined  well with Mkhitaryan on a number of occasions. While the former may not be a regular in the league, the latter has made an extremely good case for his selection on a weekly basis.
