Real Madrid midfielder Isco has revealed that a new contract at Real Madrid is in the works
The Spanish international was linked with several moves away in the Summer after finding it hard to establish himself in the first team last season.
Arsenal, Tottenham and AC Milan were all linked with moves for the talented 24-year old in the summer amid reports that Real were willing to let him leave, but Isco chose to remain at Real Madrid and fight for a place in the starting eleven.
Isco found playing time hard to come by at the start of the season, however, and Manchester United emerged as a potential destination for the Spaniard in January.
However, things have since gone better for Isco. The midfielder has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice in the process.
Manager Zinedine Zidane has shown faith in the player, granting him the playing time he sought and it appears he is now firmly in the managers plans.
This has led to talks of a new contract, and Isco has now confirmed that Real Madrid are working with his representatives to reach an agreement on an extension :
“I still have this year and next on my contract, both the club and myself are looking forward (to a renewal) and we hope to sort it out,” Isco is quoted by Marca as saying after Tuesday night’s victory over Sporting CP.
“I’m getting continuity now and am happy to help the team.”
Isco’s current deal at Real Madrid runs until 2018, and it is no surprise that Real Madrid have begun talks over a new contract as the 24-year old still has a long way to go in his career and is undoubtedly talented.
Real Madrid’s ongoing fight over a transfer ban imposed on them by UEFA also means that they cannot register any new players until January 2018, and this has led to them tying down several key players to new contracts.
This leaves little doubt that Isco will now sign a new contract at Real Madrid, and stay with the Spanish giants for the foreseeable future.
