Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski’s agent cools talks of new contract with Bayern Munich

The Polish striker’s agent has dismissed rumors of a bumper new deal offered to his client by the German giants

Robert Lewandowski has been a subject of interest for former manager Pep Guardiola, who continues to hold Lewandowski in high regard and French club PSG, who their have sights firmly on the Bayern Munich striker as they look to replace the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic; while Real Madrid have been an admirer of the striker for some time now; reports the Mirror.

However, German outlet Sport had recently reported an exclusive, claiming the German juggernauts have an agreement in place with three of it’s integral players – Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Robert Lewandowski – for extending their stay at Allianz Arena by two years.

This claim was backed by Polish media, with Sportowe Fakty reporting the former Borussia Dortmund striker has extended his contract with the club till 2021, making him the joint highest earner at Bayern Munich, alongside Thomas Muller, with €15 million; a sharp rise from his current yearly earnings of €11 million.

Now, however, the reports have been quashed by Maik Barthel, one of Robert Lewandowski’s agents with the other being Cezary Kucharski, who took to Twitter to state there has been no new development with reference to his client and his future.

The tweet can also be interpreted as to stating the talks may have been ongoing, but an agreement is yet to be reached between the two parties, contrary to the rumours circulating in the media. Back in September, Lewandowski had not denied when asked if his agents and the club were in talks for a new contract.

Since joining Bayern Munich on a free transfer in 2014 from rivals Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski has only strengthened the claims to be among the best strikers in the world, scoring 77 goals in 113 appearances; averaging an incredible 122 mins per goal. The striker has started this season in similar fashion, finding the net 10 times in 13 matches.

Carlo Ancelotti recently claimed he wouldn’t swap Robert Lewandowski for any other player in the world, outlining the importance of the striker to the club and the manager.

Not surprisingly, the club wants the association with Lewandowski to continue for longer, with Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester United among the well-known admirers of the lethal striker.
