Liverpool have reportedly taken 17-year-old Uruguayan wonderkid Agustin Davila, who plays for Penarol, on trial.

The Daily Mail have reported that Liverpool have taken Uruguayan wonderkid Agustin Davila on trial at the club. The 17-year-old forward has already arrived at the club and is to remain with the club for the next two weeks.

The player has quite a prolific record back in his home country. Davila plays for Penarol, a top side in the Uruguayan league.

Agustin is credited with over 100 goals at youth level and has also represented his nation at the U-15 and U-17 level.

As per the Daily Mail report, the player flew in on Saturday and has already joined the Liverpool players at the club’s Kirkby academy. The player will be assessed at the academy over his two-week trial under the watchful eyes of academy director Alex Inglethorpe and other academy coaches.

Sport Witness have also ran an exclusive stating that Penarol’s academy director and club treasurer, Rodolfo Catino, has confirmed the news of Davila joining Liverpool on a two-week trial while also stressing on the fact that it is merely an evaluation and that the Uruguayan club are not interested in the prospect’s sale.

ScoutsInAttendance, a popular twitter handle who regularly keep a keen eye on youngsters, have also updated some information. The youngster is known to prefer the role of a left forward and has been awarded the Golden Boot in the Uruguayan League for the U-14s, U-15s and U-17s.

The player would be hoping to impress at Liverpool and make a mark during the two-week trial period, which may just persuade Liverpool to open negotiations with Penarol, who even though, as per their academy director, are not looking to offload the player, may have no other choice but to listen to Liverpool.

For now, though, Davila’s eyes would be stuck on the prize, a professional contract at an iconic European club like Liverpool, and the 17-year-old will surely know what he has to do in order to achieve it.
