Manchester City are reportedly set to battle Real Madrid for FC Metz’ Luxembourg wonderkid Vincent Thill.

Spanish publication Sport have ran a report that, as per French media outlet Le Journal Du Dimanche, Manchester City are interested in young sensation Vincent Thill. The FC Metz player, who is already a full-fledged Luxembourg international was already the subject of interest from European heavyweights such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and the Citizens have now reportedly joined the duo in pursuit of the youngster.

Thill, despite being just 16, already has 4 senior caps for Luxembourg to his name, which, coupled with the fact that he has also managed to make his senior debut for FC Metz, has made the European giants take notice of his talent.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich already boast of a magnificent youth squad with an impressive pool of young talent available at their disposal but are always on the lookout for valuable additions to their rosters with an eye on investing for the future.

Manchester City’s academy, though, has also seen a meteoric rise not too different from what the senior Citizens squad has. The advent of Txiki Begiristain has seen the club show further impetus in youth recruitment. And now, as per the report, Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on Vincent Thill.

“He has the potential to play for one of the five top clubs in Europe,” Denis Schaeffer, who represents the youngster, was quoted as saying.

The report added that while Bayern Munich were interested in the player last summer and there have been no updates of them retaining their interest, Real Madrid and Manchester City are both actively linked with Thill with representatives of both the clubs watching the player in action during the international break.

However, as per the report, Thill is likely to continue his adventure in Ligue 1 and continue his development at FC Metz. The player is set to bide his time and wait for an approach that offers an improvement in terms of stature of the club while also retaining his status as a first-team player.
