The Blaugranes have officially announced an agreement with the Brazilian forward and Argentine midfielder has been reached to further extend their contracts with the club.
Neymar, signed from Santos for a club record fee of €86.2 million in May 2013, will sign the contract on Friday that will see him commit his future with the Spanish giants until 2021. The club were desperate to keep Neymar, offering to open talks for a new contract with him back in July but it took until October to reach an agreement between both the parties, after strong rumors of PSG’s interest in the Barcelona star in the last transfer window.

Neymar has been a huge success for the club since his transfer in 2013, scoring an impressive 90 goals in 149 appearances for Barcelona, winning the La Liga in back to back seasons.
Along with it, lifting the Champions League once in Barcelona’s historic treble winning season in 2014-15 and forming the ruthless and fearsome trio of MSN, alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
While intricate details like his new wages and release clause hasn’t been revealed yet, it is still expected that both the terms will be significantly improved to ward off any interest from other clubs.
Another Barcelona player to put pen to paper is one of the club captain Javier Mascherano, whose contract has been extended by a year, until June, 2019, in line with the club’s policy of offering year-on-year extensions to players who are in their thirties based upon their performance.

The former Liverpool midfielder was supposedly very close to joining Serie A champions Juventus in the summer, but decided against making any move away from Barcelona, a club where he has been now for more than six years, appearing 289 times for the Catalan giants. His release clause has been agreed at a massive €100 million.
The extensions for two of club’s most integral players should come as a big morale boost for the team, who are preparing to host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Camp Nou in a keenly awaited Champions League tie on Wednesday night.
