Liverpool are reportedly lining up new bumper contracts for Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren in light of their recent performances.
Philippe Coutinho has been a subject of interest from the likes of PSG and FC Barcelona during the summer. With further interest coming from the French Champions ahead of the January transfer window, Liverpool have decided to offer the little magician a bumper contract to keep him at Anfield.
The Brazilian has been a key-member of Jurgen Klopp’s side since his arrival a year ago. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Reds are taking a concerted effort to ensure they give their 24-year-old all the incentives he needs to stay at Anfield and be a part of Klopp’s plans for the club.
Coutinho, along with Firmino, is Liverpool’s top scorer since the German took charge with 15 strikes. The duo have forged a deadly partnership in attack for the Reds this season, getting involved in a combined tally of 14 goals.
With that level of growth, the big sharks are bound to circle around Liverpool to snatch their prized possession, but it appears the Merseysiders will tie him to a deal that’ll see him earn significantly higher than his existing £70,ooo per week wages.
The Mirror understand that despite only signing a new deal 18 months ago, the Reds, aided by the new Premier League TV rights deal, would be happy to improve the terms on Coutinho’s contract to keep him out of the the clutches of Barcelona and PSG.
Lovren and Lallana set for new deals
Both Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana could be set for new contract extensions of their own after enjoying impressive starts to their respective seasons. Lallana looks different gravy at the moment under Klopp, transitioning from an occasional performer under Brendan Rodgers to a consistent workaholic on the pitch for the Reds as well as England.
His infectious energy and intensity on the pitch has been the heart of Liverpool’s high-speed and entertaining football this season. With three goals and three assists thus far, the midfielder is finally looking worthy of the £25 million pounds the Reds pumped in to acquire his services from Southampton.
Another player that has undergone a sea-change in fortunes is Lovren, who has managed to put a horrific debut season behind him and has quickly established himself as one of the first-choice centre-halves for Liverpool.
The duo of ex-Saints’ players look primed to earn their first contract extensions since they arrived at the club in the summer of 2014. The Mirror stated that Liverpool are currently assessing the contracts held by their players and are looking to get business done early to prevent rivals from swooping for their stars.
