Arsenal have no fresh injury worries for their trip to Burnley on Sunday, but will continue to miss the services of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey.

The dichotomy between Arsene Wenger’s first decade in charge of Arsenal and his second could not be more stark. The Gunners have failed to replicate the success they achieved in the early years of the Frenchman’s reign.

At the start of this season, it looked like more of the same was in store as Arsenal failed to win their first two games, picking up a solitary point out of a possible six against Liverpool and Leicester City.

However, with new signing Shkodran Mustafi gelling well with the team and Alexis Sanchez performing exceptionally well as a striker, things seem to be headed in the right direction.

While Mustafi and Sanchez will look to continue their good form against Burnley, two players that will definitely not feature are Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey. The former is still recuperating from a toe injury while the latter could make his return after the international break. Danny Welbeck and Carl Jenkinson continue to be sidelined with long-term injuries.

However, Wenger has received an injury boost in the form of Francis Coquelin. The midfielder suffered a knee injury recently, but the Arsenal boss has played up his chances of being part of the squad on Sunday.

“Because his ligament was not damaged as we thought,” Wenger explained (via the club’s official website). “He is keen to start again but we have to be cautious. We have plenty of games coming up but for us now we work in cycles of three, week by week we play three games, so we have done Chelsea, Basel and it’s now to show that we can finish well the week.”

After sitting out the midweek game against FC Basel, Petr Cech will be welcomed back into the starting lineup. Theo Walcott impressed in the Gunners’ 2-0 win and is set to begin the game against Burnley on the right wing.
