The 19-year-old Atlanta midfielder has revealed that he would love to play in the Premier League for Manchester United in the future.
Atalanta youngster Franck Kessie has had a thunderous start to the Serie A campaign with 4 goals in 3 matches thus far and has quickly become one of Serie A’s hottest young prospects. The 19-year-old was recently interviewed by Sky Italia about his role models and his future aims and prospects.
Kessie was asked where he thought his future lies and the teenager did not hesitate in his response. Even though the player reiterated that at the present time he was satisfied and happy to play in Italy as he feels it would benefit the tactical aspect of his game, he admitted that he harboured ambitions of one day playing in England for Manchester United.
“Now I want to learn Italian tactics but in the future, I like the Premier League,” Kessie said as quoted by ESPN. “I’d like to play for Manchester United. I don’t know if [Jose] Mourinho will be there, but Manchester United has always been my favourite team.”
Kessie’s talent has generated interest from a few other clubs and the starlet had admitted in an interview to calciomercato that Juventus had made an approach for his services — an offer which he did not take up as he is a fan of AC Milan. The talented midfielder also revealed that he was close to joining Sunderland last summer, but ended up choosing Atalanta and Italy in the hopes of developing his game.
Kessie is an exciting prospect and the goals are just a part of his repertoire. The midfielder is currently averaging 2.7 shots per game, while also registering two successful dribbles per game on average. The youngster is a complete central midfielder capable of contributing to both sides of the game; he boasts a passing success rate of 86.4% while averaging of 2 interceptions per game (whoscored).
There is little doubt about the talent that the midfielder possesses and Kessie has already been tipped as a future superstar who could succeed in the Serie A and Europe in the years to come. It would be interesting to see how the player develops and Manchester United are also likely to keep a keen eye on the 19-year-old’s progress.
