Transfer Rumour : Juventus join Liverpool in race to sign Gladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud

Juventus have reportedly entered the race to sign midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Italian publication calciomercato have claimed that Juventus have joined Liverpool in their chase for young midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. The report has added that the defending Serie A champions are monitoring the Gladbach youngster’s progress and had their representatives watching as the player featured for the German U21 side against Finland and Slovakia during the international break.

Dahoud is an exciting young prospect and has taken the Bundesliga by storm as he featured regularly for Gladbach last season grabbing five goals and eight assists in the league for the club. The player is especially known for his dribbling ability while he is often lauded for his talent to create chances for his team on a consistent basis.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye of a host of top European clubs and is reported to have rebuffed offers from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in favour of Gladbach. The club hierarchy had also stated that the player is set to stay at the club for at the very least, the current season.

It is reported, though, that the player’s contract has an £8.4m release clause in his contract and Dahoud may not be able to stay away from the lure of clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool while Juventus have also reportedly joined the fray.

Liverpool were rumoured to be favourites to land the youngster as Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the 20-year-old’s talents and wanted to bring the player to Anfield to be a part of his revolution at the club. But, Juventus’ interest is likely to make things difficult for Klopp and Liverpool in their pursuit of Dahoud.

Player-wise, the move makes little sense for Dahoud as a transfer to either club is likely to provide the 20-year-old with comparatively lesser amount of playing time than at Gladbach. But, the player might just be tempted by the prospect, nevertheless for the huge global appeal and fan-base of both the clubs.

Both Liverpool and Juventus appear keen to get hold of the 20-year-old and are likely to continue to monitor the youngster’s progress at Gladbach while the two clubs would be ready to pounce if handed the slightest hint that a transfer could be achieved for the player.
