FC Porto’s Yacine Brahimi, who has previously been linked to Arsenal, is reportedly set for a move to Premier League with Everton.
Portuguese news outlet O Jogo have claimed that Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi’s wish of securing a transfer to the Premier League has been granted as the player has reportedly flown into England to complete a move to Everton.
The Algerian Ballon D’or winner joined Porto from Granada and his performances with the Portuguese club saw a sharp rise in his stock, with the player being linked with a move to Premier League.
The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal were all interested at different stages in the current transfer window but as the transfer deadline came closer, only Arsenal were left along with the entry of Everton with the duo set to battle for the player’s signature.
The appointment of former Porto player Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager of the club before the start of the current season seems to have marginalised the player’s first-team status at Porto. The player failed to feature in the match day squad in all the three Liga NOS games so far, and even in the Champions League qualification playoffs.
The player was desperate for a move to Premier League and according to O Jogo, Ronald Koeman’s side appears to have stolen a march on the Londoners with the player currently on English soil poised to complete a transfer to Everton.
The fee has been reported by O Jogo to be around €40m including bonuses and add-ons and could be a great move for all three sides involved. Porto would receive a more than decent return on their initial investment in the Algerian international.
The player would also be able to secure a move away to a club where he is likely to be granted a key role unlike the current situation at Porto under Nuno Santo.
The move could turn out to be a great piece of business for Everton too as it would equip Ronald Koeman with a lethal player on the wings, something the coach had become used to during his time at Southampton with the explosive Sadio Mane.
The Algerian could also open doors to a future move to a bigger club if he impresses the on-lookers in the fast-paced and competitive Premier League. He would be hoping to emulate his fellow Algerian international Riyad Mahrez’s exploits in England.
