Arsenal are reportedly interested in securing the services of Paraguayan midfielder Miguel Almiron from Lanus.

The Sun have reported that Arsenal are eyeing a deal for Lanus’ Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron before the transfer deadline. The report added that even though Arsene Wenger admitted along with the confirmation of deals for Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi, that they are not looking to sign anyone else, The Sun believe that it is not the case.

The 22-year-old can play on the left wing, central midfield and at the right wing with a slight preference to play on the left side of the pitch. Almiron made his senior squad debut for Paraguay on September 5, 2015 in a 3-2 friendly win over Chile and also featured in the Copa America for the nation earlier this summer.

The player arrived at Argentine club Lanus from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno in August, 2015 and has since gone on to appear in 27 matches for the club with a decent return of 4 goals and 3 assists to show for his efforts (stats via transfermarkt).

The player is valued at €5.5m by transfermarkt, but the Sun report that the player is rated at around €11m by his current employers.

Unlike their recent struggles in the transfer market in order to capture their transfer targets, Arsenal would find it easier to reach an agreement for Almiron with the club and the player as the 22-year-old has no agent, which would mean the Londoners would be able to negotiate directly with the player.

Arsenal already have a Latin American attacking superstar in the form of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez and Miguel Almiron could look to join the club and learn some traits from a global star such as Sanchez.

Along with that, a move to Arsenal would expose the player to an international fan following and a chance to shine in Europe with the prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal would not be too bothered by the €11m reported to be the value of the player in the eyes of Lanus and the Londoners would be able to offer comfortably higher wages than the Argentine club.

As mentioned, Arsene Wenger has already confirmed the imminent arrival of Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi from Liga BBVA and the French manager could be in line to provide fans further excitement as he looks to secure a deal for the 22-year-old Paraguayan international before the transfer deadline.
