Transfer Rumour: Valencia plotting a shock swoop for FC Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi

Valencia are preparing to table a shock bid for wantaway Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi. Given Barca’s interest in striker Paco Alcacer, a swap deal could be on the cards.

As reported by Goal, Spanish side Valencia are lining up a move for Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi. Looking to bolster his attacking options at the Mestalla, the manager could benefit from signing the highly rated Spanish striker.

Munir has become somewhat of an outcast since the arrival of Luis Suarez and Neymar. The 20-year-old looked to be the next big thing at the Camp Nou a couple of seasons back, but has seen a dearth in his progress due to the big name signings.

Despite having impressed in pre-season matches in June and July, there still remains a huge possibility of him going through the exit door at the Camp Nou this summer. Also, Barca boss Luis Enrique has reportedly not ruled out the possibility of Munir leaving the club.

The 20-year-old has been a part of the Barcelona setup for more than two seasons but has only managed to make 25 appearances for the first team. He has often been on the sidelines, and a move away from the Catalan giants could be in the best interests of the player.

According to Spanish media outlet Sport, Munir will go on loan to Valencia in the 2017/18 season. The player is understood to have reached a verbal agreement with Celta Vigo for a similar deal, but is expected to snub that in order to move to the Mestalla.

Barcelona’s interest in Valencia striker Paco Alcacer is one of the worst kept secrets of the window, and that has been the reason why Munir is forced to change his mind. A potential swap deal is proposed for the two Spanish attackers, with Alcacer set to move to the Camp Nou.

However, the deal will not be a technical like-for-like replacement on paper, but Pako Ayestaran needs to rope in an adept replacement for Alcacer. Valencia earlier proposed to sign him on a full ownership basis and offer Barca a buy-back option, but it will instead now be a one-year loan deal.
