With less than a week to go till the end of the transfer window, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on signing Borussia Dortmund’s £11 million-rated winger Christian Pulisic.
Over the past year, Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic has fast grown into one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. The USA international was roped into the academy during Jurgen Klopp’s time at the club and having observed his progress with his former team, the German is keen to seal a transfer for the 17-year-old to Anfield.

Paul Joyce of the Express broke the story late on Friday, claiming that Liverpool had officially submitted a £11 million offer in order to acquire the services of the versatile winger. Despite the size of the Reds’ offer, which could easily make Pulisic the most expensive youngster signed by Liverpool in it’s history, Klopp is expected to falter in his pursuit of the player. Dortmund are keen to keep the youngster away from the clutches of their former boss and aren’t interested in doing business, especially this late into the transfer window.
The Reds have already made seven signings this transfer window with Sadio Mane being the most expensive of the lot. The difference the former Southampton forward has brought about since his arrival could be a factor that has encouraged Klopp to bring home more wingers onto the scene at Anfield.
Pulisic was signed up to the U-17 setup of Die Schwarzgelben during Klopp’s last season at the club, after impressing scouts during a run-out in his native USA. Such was the talent of the player that he was fast-tracked into the first-team setup under Thomas Tuchel and was handed a first-team debut in February. Since making his debut with the first team, the 17-year-old has gone on to score twice in nine appearances for Dortmund in the 2015-16 campaign, and his stock increased exponentially within a matter of months.
Liverpool aren’t the first Premier League team to express interest in signing Pulisic, with Stoke City having already tabled a similar offer for the youngster. In addition to the Potters, the Bild report that Dortmund’s Bundesliga compatriots RB Leipzig and Russian outfit CSKA Moscow are also keen on acquiring the signature of the talented American prospect.
Borussia Dortmund have made a host of new signings this summer to balance the outlay of stars like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mats Hummels. The last thing the club would want after enjoying a fruitful transfer window is to witness the exit of a talented young player like Pulisic. Dortmund will try their best to thwart any advances made towards signing their player but the allure of playing for a club like Liverpool and a manager like Klopp could be an option the youngster may be enticed by. And with a £11 million offer on the table for a player who only turns 18 next month, the deal is something worth considering for the Black and Yellow themselves.
