Barcelona shot stopper Claudio Bravo is inching closer to a move to Manchester City to join Pep Guardiola’s revolution.

Since joining in 2014, Claudio Bravo has enjoyed a lot of success with Barcelona. With arguably the greatest ever Barcelona team in history, the Chilean has gone on to win 2 La Liga titles, 2 Copa Del Rey titles, the UEFA Super Cup and the Champions League. But now it looks like the Chilean shot-stopper may be set for a move away from the Nou Camp to join Manchester City.

According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, a source close to the two time Copa America winner has informed them that a move to Pep Guardiola’s City was ‘almost done’. This report comes a day after questions were raised about Joe Hart’s future in the team, dropped by Guardiola in favour of Willy Caballero for their season opener against Sunderland.

It is likely that Joe Hart will continue to be benched or sold off in order for Guardiola to bring in a keeper more suited to his liking, and according to the Spanish publication, it is likely to be the 33-year-old former Real Sociedad keeper. The report states that Barcelona, who spent an estimated €12 million in acquiring the Chilean in 2014, will take between €20-25 million for Bravo, despite him having a €42 million release clause.

Even though he has enjoyed 2 trophy laden years at the Nou Camp, the Chilean hasn’t been first choice for as many matches as he would like, losing out on the Copa Del Rey and European ties to Marc-André ter Stegen. The German was signed in the same year as Bravo and the two have since shared competitions under Luis Enrique’s watch, with Bravo playing the La Liga matches and Ter Stegen taking the European and cup ties. With both keepers too talented to only be playing 25-30 matches a season, Barcelona have seemingly chosen to keep the younger Ter Stegen instead of the aging Bravo. However, this fee would be one which could easily be met by City’s hierarchy and would prove to be a great signing, given his experience in the top flight. He could be the immediate short-term fix that Guardiola wants for his side.
