Manchester United are set to begin a new Premier League era under Jose Mourinho as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils go into this game bereft of their world-record signing Paul Pogba. The Frenchman picked up two yellow cards in the Coppa Italia last season and will be serving a one-match suspension. Chris Smalling, who was not in contention to start due to an injury, is also suspended for the game.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are in line to make their Premier League debuts for Manchester United. While the the Swede and the Ivorian look set to be named in the starting eleven, Mkhitaryan may come off the bench to make his league debut.
Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney, despite a poor performance in the Community Shield, is expected to starting in the number 10 position. In central midfield, Morgan Schneiderlin is set to replace Michael Carrick, who hasn’t been in the best form of late.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe seems to have a settled playing eleven for his Bournemouth side, but his team will go into the game as clear underdogs. Midfielder Junior Stanislas grabbed a goal against United last time the two sides met, but will be missing Sunday’s game through injury. Defender Tyrone Mings has not fully recovered from a niggle picked up in pre-season and is ruled out of the game.
However, former Red Devil Joshua King is in line to spoil the party for his former employers. Striker Callum Wilson, who has recently recuperated from a long-term injury, is also expected to start up front for the Cherries.
