Manchester United have launched a bid to land the Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder, but the German club’s officials are reluctant to sell him and are willing to lose him for free next summer. His agent Mino Raiola has now revealed that he is trying his best to help his client secure the move to his dream club.

Manchester United have been very active in the transfer market this summer. After landing Villarreal defender Eric Bailly, the Red Devils are now trying to bring Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford. The Premier League giants have reportedly made a £19 million bid for Mkhitaryan, but Dortmund are unwilling to let him leave.

His agent Mino Raiola has stated that he is trying his best to secure the Armenian a move to what he considers to be his dream club.

“Watzke walks 180 degrees into one direction and I 180 degrees into the other,” said Raiola of BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, according to German publication Bild.

“But even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution.

“Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means.”

A move to Manchester United would be beneficial for all parties

Mkhitaryan has been a huge success for Borussia Dortmund as a right sided attacker in their strike force consisting of him, Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He notched up 18 goals and 16 assists for Der Schwarzgelben this past season, with his performances attracting interest from Chelsea,  Arsenal, Juventus and Manchester United.

The Armenian midfielder’s contract at Dortmund runs out next summer and he has resisted any attempts by the club to tie him down to a longer contract. This has left the door wide open for a move, but BVB are unwilling to sell the player after losing Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels this summer already. They are in no position to negotiate though and a move to Manchester United seems best for all parties involved, especially considering the player’s desire to join the Premier League giants.

It remains to be seen if United will be forced to increase their initial £19 million bid in order to land Mkhitaryan.
