Kante’s phenomenal rise this past season has seen him being linked with a move to many of Europe’s top clubs, and now Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race for his signature.

The 25-year-old played an integral part in Leicester City’s unprecedented title-winning run last season. Like his teammates Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, he is now being linked with a move away from Leicester this summer, with a number of European heavyweights interested in luring the Frenchman away from the King Power Stadium.

Kante has reportedly rejected a new deal from Leicester City and looks set to play his football elsewhere in the coming campaign. He has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool this season, and now Real Madrid may join the Premier League giants in the chase for his signature.

AS (via Football Espana) claims that the Champions League winners are considering a move for the highly rated midfielder. Casemiro is the only recognised defensive midfielder in their ranks and Kante’s arrival would add some depth as well as give the Brazilian some much-needed competition. The Frenchman’s  €25.5m release clause is also well within Madrid’s reach.

Could Kante be moving too soon?

A move to Real Madrid would be a dream come true for most footballers in the world and N’golo Kante is no different. The Frenchman would definitely relish the opportunity to play under his legendary compatriot Zinedine Zidane, but the question is whether the switch from Leicester to Los Blancos would be too much too soon.

Kante has never competed in the Champions League and has only completed two seasons of top flight football in his entire career.

A move for the defensive midfielder would come with a certain amount of risk, but a good showing with France at the European Championships will prove his ability to perform at the big stage and will give his suitors added motivation to pursue him.
