Twitter went into a frenzy after it emerged that Arsenal triggered Jamie Vardy’s release clause.
Jamie Vardy has been among Leicester City’s top dogs in their title-winning 2015/16 season with his devastating form up front. So when the runners-up to the Premier League winners, Arsenal, triggered the 29-year-old forward’s release-clause, the buzz and excitement on social media was palpable. Stuart James, the Guardian’s Midlands’ football specialist, released the news of the Gunners’ bid late on Friday evening.
Understand that Arsenal have triggered the release clause in Jamie Vardy’s contract. Leicester still determined to keep hold of him.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers this summer as they look to prepare their squad in an attempt to lift their first Premier League title in 13 years. Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata have all been connected to an Emirates switch, however it is the Foxes’ striker who is primed for a move to North London. And fans and pundits alike have taken to twitter to share their excitement in this regard.
Man Utd were unable to trigger Vardy’s release clause because it can only be done by a team in the UCL. pic.twitter.com/YtRZu7nWbF

Vardy scored 24 PL goals – his chief provider was Drinkwater
We have Ozil, Santi, JW Alexis & GX
No one can convince me this is a bad idea

Those @Arsenal fans that aren’t excited about Vardy…come on!!
He’s the type of striker we’ve wanted for ages.
Fast, clinical & nasty.— Moh Haider (@ArsenalMoh8) June 3, 2016
£20 million and £1. #vardy

Wenger suggested previously that he knew Ferguson was planning for his last season when he signed RVP at 29. Now he goes for 29-yr-old Vardy

Come on @vardy7 – let’s do this. #afc

Stay with the Champions @vardy7 don’t join the perennial also-rans. https://t.co/Yssd7IiuOS

If Arsenal complete the Vardy deal, that’ll be £50m spent. Lessons being learnt. They’re going for it. Crack open the war chests.

There was also large sections of the fans debating over Vardy’s age, who at 29 is being questioned whether he can replicate the scintillating form he was in for Leicester last season.
Hopefully all those self righteous Fans slaughtering my tweet about Vardy can now redirect them to the club.

Ian Wright played non-league until he was 22, didn’t play top flight football until he was 25 & was almost 28 when he joined Arsenal. #Vardy

15m for Vardy is no brainer imo. He may not be elite, but you know world class Falcao who was involved in 18m loan deal?Did it work for him?
— Sir Jenkinson (@theEpicGooner) June 4, 2016
Vardy’s breakout season was at age 29 in a system built to maximise his strengths.
Surely, surely this Arsenal thing is BS or agent talk?— Dan Kennett (@DanKennett) June 3, 2016
I can’t see Vardy being as successful playing at Arsenal .Wenger does not play the hoof it forward to runner system
— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) June 3, 2016
They hailed SAF for signing a prolific 29 year old RVP & called AW a fool for selling but now calling a 29 yr old Vardy ‘too old’. Shut Up!
— Mohammed Amali (@MoAmali) June 4, 2016
#VardyToArsenal is an odd one
£20m for a 29 yr old isn’t classic Wenger
Maybe he’s doing a Sir Alex wt RVP n going all in for 1 season?#AFC— atul kasbekar (@atulkasbekar) June 4, 2016
Arsenal interested in signing Jamie Vardy? Looks like Arsene Wenger wants to touch latest @PremierLeague winner after Danny Welbeck.

Vardy would convert a LOT more assists from Ozil than Giroud.
He’s way faster & more direct. #afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) June 3, 2016
Vardy is 29 right? Can only decline frm here on. Maybe a year of top level football left in him. Will be really surprised if AW goes for him

We went from Higuain to Morata and now Vardy. Can’t wait for Sanogo to sign a new contract next week.

Having already signed Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Arsene Wenger and the Gunners are moving fast in this transfer window ahead of what could be the Frenchman’s last season with the North London club.
