Manchester United and Liverpool FC target Leroy Sane hints at Schalke exit

Manchester United target Leroy Sane is on the wanted list of a number of top European clubs and has hinted that he might be leaving Bundesliga club Schalke after Euro 2016.

Sane has been instrumental for Schalke this season, helping them finish in the top five in the Bundesliga to ensure Europa League participation next season. The Germany international scored eight goals and provided six assists primarily from the right wing this campaign.

Sane’s performances have greatly impressed the top clubs around Europe, who are now trying to rope in the 20-year-old.

Pep Guardiola has had a good look at the youngster during his time at Bayern Munich, and reportedly wants to take him to Manchester City. Meanwhile, Manchester United are also said to be preparing a massive £30 million bid for Sane.

However, the young attacker has kept all his options open by saying that he will decide his future after the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament in France.

“Yes you hear about the reports, but I try not to put much attention on it,” Sane was quoted as saying in the Daily Express. “I try not to think about it. I still have a contract with Schalke and I am happy there.”

“The whole season I was focused on just the season and always wanted to help the team. I am here with a goal in mind and that is to be in the final Euro squad. I will make a decision after my time with the national team.”

Liverpool the best choice for Sane?

While a number of clubs are currently after Sane’s signature, the youngster needs to decide his next move wisely. He is at the age of 20 now, and one wrong move could derail a career that is currently progressing impressively.

The biggest example of that is Mario Gotze, who was regarded as the ‘German Messi’ when he was at Dortmund, but was later starved of first team chances after his move to Bayern Munich.

However, Liverpool, who are also said to be interested in Sane, could turn out to be Sane’s best chance to prosper. Current Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is well known for nurturing young talents into big stars and the Schalke youth product would find it easier to break through into the starting XI than he would at one of the best teams in Europe.
