France midfielder Paul Pogba conceded that he was flattered by recent comments from Barcelona superstar Neymar, but insisted that he is happy at Juventus.
The 23-year-old is among the most coveted players in world football at present, and his performances in recent seasons for Juventus have attracted the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe — including Barcelona.
Recently, the Catalans’ star forward Neymar stated that he admired Pogba and thought that the Frenchman would be a good fit at Barcelona. The former Manchester United midfielder addressed Neymar’s comments after Juventus’s 2-1 win over AC Milan on Saturday.
“Neymar says he is waiting for me in Barcelona? It’s nice when a great player like him says these things, but I’m glad to be here at Juve,” said Pogba, according to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The young Frenchman went on to say that his only focus right now was Juventus.
“I’m focused on winning the Scudetto… Even though there is a lot of transfer talk, that is my focus. It’s the only thing that crosses my mind.
“The battle isn’t over. We must continue to win.”
The next big thing
Paul Pogba has developed stupendously since moving to Juventus on a free transfer and has played a huge part in their march to three successive Serie A titles. The Bianconeri are well on their way to winning the title this season as well, which would make it five titles in a row.
The powerful (yet graceful) midfielder can start plays from deeper positions in the midfield, has the ability to carve out openings in the final third of the pitch, does not shirk his defensive responsibilities and is also excellent with the dead ball.
At 23 years old, the midfielder has his best years ahead of him and whichever club he plays for at his peak will likely be hugely successful. He is rated at €65 million by transfermarkt.com, but it would not be surprising if he smashed the world record transfer fee should he leave Juventus.
