Ronaldo looking for Real Madrid exit but unlikely to return to Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid appears less certain than it has ever been since his move to the Spanish capital, but the Portuguese is reportedly unlikely to return to Manchester United.

Real Madrid are staring down the barrel of yet another trophyless season after their embarrassing 2-0 loss at the hands of Wolfsburg in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. The powers that be at the Santiago Bernabeu are not happy with the team’s current predicament and are reportedly looking to make major changes to the first-team squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 29 goals from 31 La Liga appearances this season, is also said to be unhappy at the club. A number of top clubs have been linked with the 31-year-old, but given their financial muscle, Manchester Untied are seen as favourites to land their former hero.

The Old Trafford faithful have been frustrated at their club’s management for failing to produce the brand of attacking football that the club became famous for during the long reign of Sir Alex Ferguson. Bringing Ronaldo back to the club could appease the Manchester United fans, who hold the player in high esteem.

However, reputed Spanish journalist Guillem Balague said on Twitter that although Ronaldo is looking for a way out of Real Madrid, he is unlikely to move to his former side.

PSG looking to replace Zlatan with Ronaldo?

Ligue 1 champions PSG have also been heavily linked with a move for the player and might even have the chance to sign him for as low a transfer fee as £48 million, with The Sun reporting that Real Madrid are open to selling their star player.

This presents a good opportunity for PSG to replace their own wantaway star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who himself has been in terrific form in Ligue 1, scoring 30 goals from 24 appearances. However, the Swedish striker is keen on a move to the Premier League after his contract with the Paris club expires in the summer.

Signing Ronaldo will undoubtedly help the French side challenge the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Champions League — the competition believed to be the owners’ primary target.
