With different suitors circling White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a new and improved deal to offer their star striker Harry Kane, that would see the England international get more than double his current wages.
Kane, who shot into the limelight last season, currently earns a sum of £35,000 per week. However, with the 22-year-old fast establishing himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League at the moment, Spurs need to act fast to offer him competitive wages, in order to ward off the other clubs.
In fact, Tottenham are ready to give him an improved deal, that would see Kane earn almost three times the amount that he was receiving previously. According to the Daily Express, Tottenham want to bump Kane’s wages up to £100,000-a-week.
After having an amazing debut season in 2014/15, Kane has proceeded to prove that he is not a one-season wonder, by netting 21 times so far this season. His performances at the club level, have also compelled England national team coach Roy Hodgson to make him a regular in the Three Lions’ setup.
With Wayne Rooney suffering from a long-term knee injury, Kane is expected to take up the mantle of England’s ace striker at the Euro 2016 in France, later this year. However, if the 22-year-old does perform exceptionally well at the tournament, there is always the danger of some of the top European clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United showing an interest in him.
Champions League football making Spurs attractive
While in the past top players like Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have left Tottenham to join a top European club like Real Madrid, that may not be such an attractive option anymore. Tottenham are now challenging for the Premier League title, and are well on their way to qualify for the Champions League next season.
With the team playing really attractive football, it is a very interesting time for the club, and a pay hike coupled with the promise of Champions League football could be enough for top players like Kane to stay at White Hart Lane.
