Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a host of English Premier League clubs following a stellar season under Thomas Tuchel. While Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly keen on acquiring his services, the striker has revealed that it is his ‘childhood dream’ to play for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Aubameyang is currently being counted amongst Europe’s finest strikers after averaging a goal per match in the Bundesliga. The Gabon international has already surpassed his previous season’s tally after scoring 30 goals in all competitions under Tuchel.
It is my childhood dream to play for Real Madrid
As reported by L’Equipe [via Goal.com], the striker has revealed that he harbours a desire to play for Real Madrid in the near future.
“My childhood dream? To play at Real Madrid.
“In 2014, before he died, I promised my grandfather who was from Avila, 110 kilometers from Madrid, that I would play there. It will be complicated, but it sits in a corner of my head.
“When I was a kid, I watched Hugo Sanchez videos. The backflip I sometimes do when I score is actually an homage to him.”
Madrid also linked with Lewandowski
While Real Madrid have not expressed an interest in the Dortmund striker so far, the Spanish giants have been repeatedly linked with a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski who is being touted as Real Madrid’s top priority for the summer.
This could force the Dortmund striker to reconsider his options should he decide to leave the Bundesliga in the near future.
