Arsene Wenger Looks To Suppress Jamie Vardy And Riyad Mahrez In Sunday’s Clash Against Leicester City FC

Arsenal FC’s boss Arsene Wenger has a lot of preparation to be done in order to deny Leicester City FC a win at Emirates stadium, which might also turn the tide in favour of the Gunners who currently trail Ranieri’s Foxes by 5 points on the league table.

Leicester City FC will be looking to extend their run of victories against big names, after recording wins against Liverpool FC, Manchester City and Stoke City in their last three Premier League fixtures.

“What is important is to find the momentum back and that means that you win a few games,” Gunners boss said in a press conference.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have shown phenomenal form this season, with the former leading the top goal scorer chart of the Premier League with 18 goals.

Mahrez became the first player this season to reach double figures in both the number of goals scored and chances created. He has scored 14 goals for the Foxes so far in the Premier League and has assisted 14 goals for his club.

“After, let’s not count too much on the weakness of Leicester because they have not shown too many,” he added.

Wenger might play Gabriel instead of slow Mertesacker in order to counter the pace of Vardy and Mahrez

Laurent Koscielny has been in good form lately and the Arsenal boss will not take him off. Although he might switch things at the, bringing in a pacier Gabriel in the Central defence to accompany the French defender who has been a rock at the back for the Gunners.

Talking about his decision to bring on Gabriel instead of the dressing room leader Per Mertesacker, Arsene Wenger said, “It’s difficult to go into an individual assessment. Mertesacker is a great leader, very respected in our dressing room. But I have three centre-backs and I adapt, on form, on opponents, on their strengths.”

Wenger has never lost a match to Ranieri and hopes to keep it this way. But this might not be what Ranieri’s Leicester side want, who’ve been going strong for this season having lost only two Premier League games out of 25 played so far.

Leicester City FC registered an important away win against Manchester City last week and will be looking to repeat the same at another away game at the Emirates. If this game goes in the Foxes’ favour, they’ll further their lead by eight points ahead of the Gunners.
