Arsenal FC Eye Leicester City FC Teen Defender In A Deadline Day Move

Arsenal FC are looking to sign defender Ben Chilwell in an upgraded bid before the deadline after their intial £3 million bid was rejected by Leicester City FC.

According to the Metro, Arsenal are planning an upgraded 4 million bid to bring the high-potential 19-year-old defender to the Emirates, after their initial bid was rejected by the Foxes, who want to keep the defender at this crucial stage in the league.

The highly-rated defender, who last featured in Leicester City FC’s 0-2 FA Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur FC, was spotted by Steve Rowley, chief scout of the Gunners, while the player was on a short-loan at Championship side Huddersfield. Rowley evidently gave Wenger a glowing recommendation.

Chelsea FC also interested but Leicester hold on to the defender

Arsenal FC were initially keen on a summer bid for Chilwell; Chelsea FC’s growing interest in him making him a potential interest for their summer transfer window too, added to the Gunners’ urgency in signing the defender.

After failing to land him on their initial 3 million bid, Arsenal FC reportedly added another million to the bid, but that too might not be sufficient to bring Chilwell away from the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City FC are adamant about keeping their young starlet, just as they hold on to their key-scorers Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez too. It’s unlikely that the club will let go of such an asset, and only a huge transfer amount may see the Foxes parting ways with Ben Chilwell.
