Liverpool FC Transfer News: £38m Price Tag May Force Reds Out Of Running For Alex Teixeira

Liverpool FC have been found wanting in attack this season, but the Reds will not be adding Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian sensation Alex Teixeira to their team this January, according to reports from England.

The Reds have been struggling in front of goal with top marksman Daniel Sturridge suffering from a string of injuries, and Jurgen Klopp unwilling to trust £32.5 million striker Christian Benteke with a regular place in the starting line-up.

They had set out to land Shakhtar attacker Alex Teixeira, who has scored 26 goals in 25 games in all competitions for the Ukraine side, even launching a bid for the Brazilian. However Shakhtar reportedly want a lot more money than what Liverpool FC are prepared to offer right now, and that seems to have put the Merseysiders off for this season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool FC not prepared to match Shakhtar’s demand

While Teixeira is currently valued at around £23 million, according to Transfermarkt, Liverpool FC were prepared to pay more than that. In fact, the Reds had made a bid of £24.5 million for the striker. Shakhtar though, are not ready to listen to these offers, and have valued their own forward at £38 million.

However, Liverpool FC are reportedly not ready to pay so much for a winter transfer, which seems to have brought the Teixeira saga to an end — for now.

Reds do not want a repeat of Carroll, Benteke

While Benteke was signed for £32.5, Andy Carroll was snapped up by Liverpool FC for a whopping £35 million, making him the costliest British player in history back in 2011. Both of these big-money strikers have been flops at Anfield, and it seems that the club is now being cautious about not paying too much for an attacker who may not be able to perform well at the club.
